Fetish-wear Fashion-fix!

Trends - they're tricky things to master. Whilst something may look absolutely fantastic going down the catwalk, it doesn't always translate quite as well into the real world! Prime example no.1 is this seasons tricky trend - fetish wear. Whilst they look amazing, I just can't see myself walking down the street in any of these designer ensembles below (never mind going to visit my Grandma!):

With the likes of Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen championing all things sheer, leather, and chained, the look is definitely high on this seasons style radar. You'd almost be forgiven for  ordering that Catwoman fancy-dress jumpsuit from Ebay! Note: I stress the "almost"!

Because the key to looking trendy, not trashy, is not to do too much! Instead of going head to toe S&M,  why not give a fashion-forward nod to the fetish-look by working a pair of simple leather trousers, like these celebs below?

Whether you go for classic black ala Kate Moss and SJP , or head for a brighter splash of colour (courtesy of Olivia Palmero and Elle Macpherson), a pair of leather skinnies will keep you on trend- without making you worry about standing too close to a street corner!! Team with a casual pair of pumps for a cool daytime look, or copy Elle's court shoes combo for a more professional work look. Dress down with chunky knitwear on top (perfect for keeping cosy in winter!), or a simple blazer for an elegant evening style.

Convinced? Here are some of my favs:

And just incase your tempted to take the look a bit further, here is an example of what happens when the fetish trend goes to too far....

Abbey Crouch in Emanuel Ungaro at the GQ awards-
Sack the stylist! Or at least get her eyes checked!
