You may remember my previous post on one of London’s top small group training studios, FitMiBody on Old Street. Well, the already pretty good studio has just become even better as they’ve embarked on their next project, a re-branding to the brand new concept – Outrivals!
Not too sure what to expect, we gathered on a chilly Thursday evening under a bridge in the heart of Shoreditch – Outrivals know how to pick a location with impact. Split into 5 different groups, there was a plethora of activities going on – HIIT, strength, cardio, abs and, my poison of choice, boxing. Partnering up with my favourite girl Sophia, Outrivals PT and Boxing Instructor Simon Zhao soon got us warmed up and straight into a boxing circuit. Think skipping, jump squats, lunges, fast feet and more burpees than you could ever imagine possible, all intertwined with partner work using the gloves. Jabs, hooks, crosses and uppercuts, finishing off with a game of chase, attempting to tap our partners knees whilst blocking them from getting to ours. The forfit for the loser? Burpees, of course!

Burpeed out, the group re-joined for one final hit – a run back to the refurbed studio! Despite being a tad exhausted from the workout we’d already completed, what was meant to be a ‘gentle’ run turned into a bit of a sprint, as we all raced back excited to see the new premises. (It may have also had something to do with the fact we heard there was food and booze waiting!)

Tucking into a delicious spread provided by Camino – a tapas bar in Shoreditch - we grabbed a drink as CEO and studio owner Matt gave us a bit of background behind the rebranding and the future of Outrivals…. Keep a lookout for these guys, there’s many more exciting things to come!!

Top recommendations would be for Simon’s boxing (of course!), and also Lewis’s Hips and Core class on a Monday evening. He’s basically the only trainer that can get me to do lower body and actually enjoy it – and trust me, with my hatred of squats, that is no easy task!

But that’s exactly why Outrivals literally does outrival many of its competitors. Top instructors, well structured classes, a fun group training environment but with the individual attention you’d usually only get with a one to one PT, get this place onto your hit list!
