What they say: 4Kardio Dance is a class that allows anyone to feel like a dancer, whilst giving the brain and body the best workout possible. The class focuses on building essential motor skills such as coordination, spatial awareness and the understanding of movement. In other words 4Kardio is a FUN, FULL OF ENERGY and EASY-TO-FOLLOW dance class that will make you BREAK A SWEAT in your mind and body.
What I say: Motor skills, coordination, spatial awareness – if 4Kardio Dance showed one thing, it’s that these 3 things are skills I certainly do not have! Was I jumping around like a baby elephant? Yes. Were my friends and I whacking each other in the face trying to perfect our arm movements? Yes. Did we still enjoy the class anyway? 100% YES YES YES!

What we did: Beginning with a warm up, Fran – our instructor – got us straight into the moves! Each ‘routine’ comprised of two – five different sequences, which we repeated in different combinations, using different sides, to make up a full on dancing squad! (Basically, it’s a clever way of only having to learn a few different sequences and bashing them out like a pro!). Finishing as a ‘squad’ , we moved into a circle and basically just the let the music take us wherever we wanted to go – hair flips, pouting and slut drops essential, of course!

Instructor: 10/10 – Fran literally made this session everything it was! I met Fran around a year ago and, especially after she joined the team at Third Space London, I’ve been to a number of her classes since! Guaranteed to make you work your ass of, but still smile and laugh the whole way through, I’ve no idea how she keeps her tough classes SO fun and energetic, but Fran has a way like no-one else does!

Intensity: Cardio wise, I can’t honestly say I found this class particularly intense. Strength wise, it certainly wasn’t intense (there were no weights or bodyweight movements involved). What was intense, however, was the workout of the brain – trying to remember the routines, connect your mind to the body, and avoid slapping people in the face (which clearly we were not very successful at!). Given I spend 90% of my time working on cardio/strength, THIS is the weakness I clearly need to working on more – remembering it’s not always about building up a sweat (although trust me, you still will!).

Venue: Now this where New Motion Fitness REALLY stand out. Forgot your old dingey dance hall, or even your premium boutique studio, New Motion Fintess classes are held in an all signing, all dancing nightclub – complete with a DJ booth, disco lights and full on bar… for after, of course! LightBox Night Club will never be the same again – in the best way possible!
