Golden Globes : The good, the bad and the ugly!
Yay - I love awards season. It's not that I'm a film fanatic desperate to see my favourite actor win an award - I actually don't have a clue who won what. No, I like seeing all the stars glammed up and out on the red carpet. So, I've put together my list of the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night. Because let's face it - the terrible outfits are so much more entertaining than the good ones!
The Good:
With the most recent series of Glee dying a death (is anyone still watching it?!), I guess Lea Michelle needs to get her press coverage somehow - other than her alleged diva tantrums. But being the girl who makes (the usually stunning) Marchesa look dreadful is not the way to go about it. Leave something to the imagination next time Lea! And the less said about Madonna's 'fabric oragami', the better. Sarah Michelle Gellar apparently let her two year old daughter pick this tie dye Monique lhullier gown - no kidding. There's a reason two year olds don't dress their selves, never mind their mother for the red carpet. That's just taking supportive parenting too far. Cameron Diaz, although didn't attend the awards, graced the pap's with her presence at the after party. But perhaps she shouldn't of. The ill fitting satin dress makes her look far too muscular and unfeminine, and combined with her recently chopped hair, she just looks old and haggard. Come on Cameron, you can do so much better!
Ok, bitchy rant over. But seriously, these stars get GIVEN tons of designer dresses to PICK from - how can they get it so wrong?!
The Good:
From left: Salma Hayek, Elle MacPherson, Evan Rachel Wood, Sofia Vergara |
As usual, Salma Hayek looks fabulously glamourous in this metallic Gucci gown. Elle MacPherson, in Zac Posen, rocks two major trends of the night - the white colour palette and the fishtail finish - looking a fraction of her age (47 - you'd never guess!). Evan Rachel Wood works a more grungey-glam look in this peacock inspired Gucci dress, while my award for the best dressed goes to Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. No, I hadn't heard of her either, but after seeing this gorgeous figure-flattering dress, the "Modern Family" actress is definitely now on my style radar!
The Bad:
From left: Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams |
Jessica Biel, seriously, did you think wearing your Grandmas wearing dress was a good look?! She is rumored to be engagement to Justin Timberlake.... but if that's the sort of look she's gonna go for on her wedding day, perhaps he should just meet me at the church instead?! Reese Witherspoon's look isn't awful, but I just feel she's trying a bit too hard to do the Jessica Rabbit look. And her dress is too long. Next! Charlize Theron has divided reviews in this Dior gown - personally I think the colour does nothing for her, and what's the huge bow on the hip all about? It's past Christmas love. Lastly, Michelle Williams - I've got to admit, I've never been a huge fan. But after seeing her amazing performance in My Week With Marilyn, I was beginning to warm to her. Yet after seeing her in this frumpy Jason Wu gown, I've learnt to trust my initial instincts.
The ugly :
