Coming up....BeFit London!!
Wow, London seems to be on overload with it's health and fitness right now! Following the amazing success of London Health Week, which came to an end on Sunday, the same day as the London Marathon, this weekend sees the return of Be:Fit London, the only consumer exhibition in Britain dedicated to women's health, fitness and healthy food.
So what exactly does this mean? Sitting in a room being grilled about the importance of maintain a healthy diet, limiting all things sugar related and becoming a skinny little beanpole??
Haha - thankfully not in this case! With the mantra "strong and fit are the 'new skinny'" at the heart of the event, this is a welcome change from the usual women's media, with a range of events on offer all designed to inspire women to get active, exercise, and enjoy the process of doing it! With fitness classes from the likes of Insanity, Body by FRAME, Equinox and (my personal favourite) Barry's Bootcamp, The Reebok Fitness Studio seems this weekends' place to be!
However, given I'm moving house this weekend, all my sports gear is packed away in boxes ...... argh!! Turns out I don't need to worry though, as there will be plenty of up and coming sportswear brands exhibiting their new collections during the event - i.e. a perfect excuse to treat myself to something new :-) Fitness, fashion and shopping- my 3 favourite things combined in one! If it only it were to feature food too....
Oh wait, it does! Alongside a range of healthy food exhibitors, the event will also feature talks from sports nutritionists Cara Sloss and Laura Clark, free health checks (I hope I'm up to scratch!) and cooking demonstrations from personal chef to the A list celebs, Sophie Mitchell. As Claudia Schiffer's former cook, I'm looking forward to picking up a few tips!! Hey, if it's good enough for Claudia.....
AND (as if this wasn't enough!), the weekend will also feature inspirational talks from record holding Olympic stars including Rebecca Adlington, Victoria Pendleton, and the inspiring gold heptathlete medalist, and mother of four (!), Denise Lewis. Other speakers include top industry journalists Taylor Anderson from Cosmo and Vogue editor Calgary Avansino. What's not to love?!
The event runs from Friday 1st May to Sunday 3rd at the Business Design Centre in Islington. For the full schedule, and to book your wristbands from only £15 a person, head to www.befitlondon.com.
Hopefully I might see some of you there!!
xoxo
