2010 Fashion Round up : No. 7 - Mulberry Alexa bag
Every girl in 2010 wanted to be Alexa Chung ; likewise every girl in 2010 wanted the Alexa bag. Inspired by the poster girl for London style, this Mulberry bag became the must have accessory for this year.
After Alexa was photographed with an old Mulberry mens briefcase, a stroke of marketing genius from the Mulberry creative director, Emma Hill, lead to the creation of the must-have bag named after the style icon. Selling out immediately, it propelled it onto the fashion hotlist, with the price tag of £695 upwards being considered "reasonable" by many of the bloggers out there!
Whilst I can't justify the price tag, there's no denying the bag is gorgeous. It works well with the utilitarian trend prevalent on the 2010 catwalks, yet is fairly simplistic- meaning it wont quickly go out of fashion. The downside of designers bags reaching their peak in popularity is the copy-cat fakes, which completely destroy the brand image. Louis Vuitton or Burberry bag anyone? Hmmm, thought not.
I'll have the oak coloured one please!
