Golden Globes 2011

As usual, the red carpet at this year's Golden Globes was an array of high-end glamour, designer dresses and killer heels. Never mind who won the actual awards, these celebs were battling it out for the best dressed prize!

The Good...

January Jones in Versace, Angelina Jolie in Versace, Anne Hathaway in Armani

Emma Stone in Calvin Klien, Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta

Not many 33year olds could pull of this dress, however January Jones does it with style! She looks sexy, not slutty. Elegant, but not at all prissy.

Angelina Jolie, as much as I don't like her (the whole Brad/Jen thing still upsets me) I must admit, she looks hot. Green was definitely the colour of the evening, and her Swarovski encrusted, backless number was a pleasant change from her usual gothic black look.

And last, but by no means least, Anne Hathaway dazzles in this stunning Armani gown. I must admit, at first I was undecided - did I hate it or love it? Was it spot on, or a tad cheap looking? Then I discovered it was backless - and that was me decided - love it! Then again, that girl could wear a binbag and still look fab. Not fair.

(on another note - have you seen Love and Other Drugs? AMAZING - go see! And not just because it contains a lot of naked Jake Gyllenhaal :P)

Emma Stone and Lea Michele work the pastel trend, set to be huge for Spring/Summer. Being a girly girl I'm glad to see they're supporting the spring pretty in pink colour palette. The whole moody grunge thing is just not my style!

The Bad...

Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs, Eva Longoria in Zac Posen, Nicole Kidman in Prada

Oh Heidi, what are you doing?! Ok, i get it - you're trying to work the 70's trend for SS2011. Prove that although you're perhaps not the model of the moment, you're still pretty hot. FAIL. The shape, the colours, the pattern - it's just all wrong.

And Eva, let's face it - you're not the tallest of them all. I know it's meant to be a train, but sorry love, it just looks like it's too long, Maybe get Gran to take it up a few stitches next time?

Nicole Kidman, yes you look pretty. Yes we know you champion the whole simple, elegant, pure sort of look. But its so boring! Show a bit of leg, the whole innocent thing just aint cutting it anymore.

And the Just Plain Ugly! ...

Michelle Williams in Valentino, Natalie Portman in Viktor and Rolf, Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham

Ah, ah, argh!! Where do I even begin?! Michelle Williams - what were you thinking? Where's the shape, the colour, the glamour? I wish it worked, I really do - it's Valentino. But I've come to the conclusion that is not going to happen. Out of all the things you could have chosen, this is what you picked? All I can hope is that she doesn't dress herself, that her stylist picked it, and that the stylist is now well and truly sacked. I know it's brutal, but so is that dress to look at.

I guess we should cut Natalie a bit of slack, being pregnant her mind is clearly 'not all there'. But the 'third boob' rose is inexcusable. Sorry.

And what's Morticia Adams doing there? No, wait, it's just Cher on a bad day. Or is it a 60's porn star? Wrong again. Oh Sandra, where did it all go so wrong? Such a long fringe hides her all her features, and the bluntness of the cut just accentuates her already harsh jaw line. Maybe, with such a bad haircut, you'd think she'd try make up for it with the dress. Eh, no. Bad shape, bad colour = bad dress. Sandra, let's try put this one behind us.

WOW, bitching session over. I do feel a better now that's all out . Karma's gonna come back and get me hard...

  1. Hedi Klum's look was just out of place to me. It didn't meet the standards of the beauty and glamour of the Golden Globes. The dress may have been more appropriate at another time.

  2. I agree with your Angelina choice - she looked stunning! Simple, high neck dress in a block colour, non-fussy hair and make-up and distinct lack of jewelry, but she is such a beautiful woman that she makes the whole look completely breathtaking! A real deal movie star! However, I thought January Jones looked like she should be waiting tables at Ceasar's Palace - not a fan!
